Letters From Miami is an independent monthly magazine and living archive of a city in constant transformation.

 

Each issue explores a different corner of Miami life through illustration, essay, poetry, and comics, brought together by a rotating community of artists, writers, and contributors.

 

Printed in limited editions and distributed by subscription and in select locations across the city.

Current Issue: The Power of Public Art

The idea for this issue came from Ryan Wheelbarrow, our resident contributor and one of the most knowledgeable voices on public art in Miami. 

​

In this issue: Tiana Traffas and her street art zine, part manifesto, part instruction manual, rooted in feminism and the conviction that public space belongs to everyone. Fanzine Puerto Rico with the story of Entre Café, Música y Arte, seventeen years of community culture built in a public square in Mayagüez. Megan Roth descending forty feet below the surface of the Atlantic in her column OnlyFins. And an interview with Morazul, a Colombian artist who has been painting the streets of cities across Latin America and now Miami for twenty years, and has a lot to say about what walls are really for.

We also welcome Serci Cox as a new resident contributor. A multidisciplinary artist whose work explores joy, self-expression, and healing through unforgettable women characters and color as a language all its own.

Submissions

We are currently accepting submissions for the following issues:​​​

Issue #6 - Lost in Translation (Deadline: August 5th)

Issue #7 - An Underwater City
Issue #8 - Invasive Species
Issue #9 - Money Above All
Issue #10 - Fueled by Coffee


Deadlines for issues #7 through #10 will be announced as they approach.​

We welcome essays, personal narratives, poetry, illustration, photography, and comics. Work does not need to address the issue topic directly; it needs to feel resonant with it. 

​

Respect for all opinions and differences is a core value of this publication. Letters From Miami is not a political magazine; the focus is always on the art around the topic, not political views. Content that violates this premise will not be considered.

​Format & Specifications:

Written submissions should be sent as a Word document or PDF. Visual work should be submitted at a minimum of 300dpi in PNG, Flat PDF, or high-resolution JPG format. Each contributor receives a two-page spread, with the possibility of four pages with prior approval.

​

This is currently a non-paid opportunity. ​

​

All contributors receive full credit in the published issue, including name, website, and social handle and a few printed copies to share.

​
